Do Christians really believe most of us are going to hell?

The evidence of Moses' existence has been handed down from generation to generation. The Jews at the time of Jesus still attributed the writing of the law to Moses. The other evidence is the chain of writings after the Pentateuch that continue to give witness to Moses and reinforce the earlier writings. The same goes for David, Solomon and prophets.

Odd Moses doesn't make an appearance in contemporary Egyptian accounts. Other than the Old Testament itself there are no records of any of the Old Testament patriarchs. It's not until Kings and Chronicles that's there's any other sources mentioning the people in the Old Testament.

Romans had a oral tradition of Romulus and Remus founding Rome, but surely you don't believe that?

There's no records of most people who existed back then. Other nations didn't care about the patriarchs. They meant nothing to them, but they were important to the Jewish nation to whom the old testament was written. Egyptian pharaohs and other monarchs of the time weren't fond of people who wrote derogatory things about them.

If Moses were just another prophet or Hebrew king, that would make sense. But Moses is supposed have escaped Egypt with over 600,000 slaves; wiped out the Pharaoh's army; and killed all the first born sons in Egypt. Any one of those three events certainly would have been recorded.

-This is absurd! You don't think that egypt might have noticed a "moses"? Rip Van Winkle is important to me - guess he's legit too? No, wait, maybe they didn't write about "moses" because they didn't like him?

Let me give you simpler explanation. There was no Moses - and it really doesn't matter to anyone that there wasn't. It's a foundational legend - we all tell them, the truth of the narrative is not measured by the existence of the character but by the existence of the narrator.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So basically, a bunch of old writings that have a vested interest in perpetuating these stories mention Moses, and therefore he existed?

If not by the egyptians - granting Leks attempt at apologetics....

-then by their enemies.

We'd have seen no end of the insults literally chipped into stone.

The Moses story likely has roots to either the Assyrian or Babylonian incursions into Egypt with the Moses character being one of their collaborators.
