How do you deal with street preachers?

i live downtown and there's one outside my flat every sunday..
i get off the lift and go out the lobby and he see's me..
He approaches.. in my head.. i hear the music from jaws..
sometimes he gets me... sometimes not...

Tell them you are God.

Ask him for evidence of his claims. When he fails, ask again. Repeat as necessary.

I've never seen a street preacher.

The closest I got was some random chick who cornered me at a Wal-Mart and told some story about Jesus and some branches or seeds or something. I told her I don't believe in that shit. She said she'd pray for me, I told her not to waste her time.

Another way to deal with them is tasers.

But, apparently, that's frowned upon.

Confrontation leads to violence. Are you prepared to kill or be killed over such an issue? Remember, half of the population is crazy. You can always say that you worship a deity in another galaxy and that you have to hurry home to do a video conference with it.

One once stopped me on a street corner and stepped in front of me when I tried to step around him after telling him I wasn't interested. The final time he also put his hand on me to stop me.

That's when I will get in their face about it.

I'm intolerant like that.

I have to deal with this quite often. I simply smile, shake their hand and listen to what they have to say. I'll tell them to have a good day; however, I am an atheist so without proof I can no longer carry this conversation. They usually let it go and wish me a good day and say "god bless you." Of course, I know they're saying it out of spite and not because their god is really going to "bless" me or anything of the nature but I don't let it get to me a whole lot.

His religion helps him sleep at night and my lack of helps me so it works just fine.

You could always take to your apartment manager..or whoever runs the location you're living and inform them of the issue.
