I'm not sure I understand, where is the supernatural here? Cameras are pretty damned natural.

I actually edit photos for fun and I am noticing a couple of cheats on a lot of these photos. Resolution and quality differences which do not correlate to their time and some of them look outright obvious. I think it is the newby church photo which literally looks like a mask over a man's face.

We see faces and other things at one resolution that we don't at another. It doesn't make the faces real. Your images in photos are as real as the "faces" on mars. The cause is the same, our desire to make sense of the random.
