Aren't fundamentalists the 'good' guys?
August 4, 2014 at 8:18 pm
(This post was last modified: August 4, 2014 at 8:19 pm by Dystopia.)
They are the only ones who follow religious doctrines strictly without deviant or incoherent behaviour, they don't merely pick the nice convenient part of the holy scriptures and pretend the immoral, vile and vicious passages don't exist. Doesn't that make them the most faithful theists? I see fundies as the best Christians/Muslims/Jews/etc.
Let's imagine a Christian says 'I am pro gay marriage':
People's reaction - Yes, progress is very good, wise choice
My reaction - What? Then you're not a good Christian, you're just cherry picking and putting the worst part aside
Anyone subscribes my opinion?

Is your anti-theism more important than being a progressive?
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

I don't see any contradiction between both.

So you would find no contradiction between those who tell Moslems that their faith warrants them to kill and then turning around stating they don't believe in killing?

Weak analogy fallacy. I don't see any contradiction. First of all, what do you mean by being progressive? And second, my anti-theism doesn't seek to take away people's rights of believing, I can make critics without persecuting anyone, something fundies have trouble doing

It is the rare Fundie that DOESN'T cherry pick Scripture.
Westboro Baptist being a prime example. Having a WOMAN in PUBLIC wearing MIXED FIBERS and MAKEUP while possibly MENSTRUATING and addressing MEN about RELIGIOUS MATTERS is more than enough to CONDEMN Westboro Baptist as being JUST LIKE the Goddamn backsliding LIBERAL Methodists !!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I don't see vigorous public advocacy of ultra-strict Biblical Literalism and Inerrancy (King James 1611, ONLY) in any way as conflicting with the Atheist outreach.

I'm not talking merely about Christianity, my statement is valid to all or at least most religions

Progressive: anti-war, anti-death penalty, socialist care for the needy, pro-rights, etc.
By telling someone they aren't a good religious observer by actually being progressive, then you don't really care about being a progressive. A progressive would encourage a believer to adopt progressive values.

Off topic: Polaris, why do you always use the term "Moslem"?

Being a 'good christian' doesn't make you a good guy.
