That Day will come as a trap on all the world
RE: That Day will come as a trap on all the world
Count on Rythm for good advise.....
A question I forgot to answer went something like this-
How could someone smart enough to put together a 350 VW believe the biblical fairy tale?
Good question.
I am blessed to be in the New Product Development department at work (used to be R/D- still do that, but NPD has a weightier ring to it I guess).

Our sequence is:
1) Concept or Idea 2) implementation 3) production
Everything we do falls into one of those categories.

Now, take a look around where you are.
Do you see any man-made objects that did not come thru that process?
Is there even one?
I didn't think so.

Now take a few steps to a mirror, the clothes you wear reflect that process.
Look at yourself.
For me to believe the most complicated thing we know of (us) came about by some other means, flies in the face of all logic and all of our history of creating things.

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

You were made in a foreign factory by underpaid, underage workers? I think you'd better call your mother, she might dispute that claim.

(take that ridiculous creation shit to it's own thread man...don't you dare put urine in my breakfast cereal - I come to this thread for my daily smile...are you trying to ruin our bromance)
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. Ohhh, I'm not so sure about that.

It means "I don't understand how things work, so God".
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Complexity is not how we detect design.

We detect design by contrasting it with nature.

Cars, clothes, etc do not occur naturally; humans, plants, other animals do.

Not to mention, that designed objects are engineered to be as simple as possible. Complexity is the sign of poor design, not good design.

Ah!

So, since your company depends on multiple: designers, engineers, R&D, implementers, and production staff, then you are advocating for multiple: designers, engineers, R&D, implementers, and production staff for the universe.

So, you're a polytheist then.

Either that, or your using a flawed analogy.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Sorry to disturb you Rythm, I was answering what I thought was a legitimate question within this thread.
Simon, being that we do not possess infinite knowledge, having a big pool of input helps a lot with the result.

It seems that people here greatly prefer professor the hoon rather than professor the prophet. :-)
