Yeah, those fucking cops and their enforcement of justice. You know what pisses me off about people who hate cops? How would you like it if we lived in a society without cops? We wouldn't have a society and your life would be in danger all the time. There would be nothing but gangs battling each other for resources (or something like that). There are some weaknesses in law enforcement. I have had my own experience with cops that was bad and reflected poorly on the cops. All it took though to change my mind about my hatred of cops was my dad simply telling me that if there were no cops no one would protect us. That makes so much sense. I don't care how bad you think the police force is. The fact is we need a police force and instead of hating on all cops maybe you should try to decide how the police for should be better and file a complaint to your local police station instead of sitting on your ass writing "fucking cops" on the internet. That is so cliche -fuck the police comin straight from the underground-. Gimme a break.

As necessary as police may be there is no good reason not to criticize their excesses and outright lawbreaking. Any cop worth his salt will be glad to have the bad apples weeded out. When they stop being glad they need to rethink their own motives.

I wouldn't suggest that there should be no police - to suggest that is the alternative to reign in abusive and criminal behavior *by* cops is ludicrous.

I made that post because some guy came into my thread and told me that cops were the reason why violence and drug wars are a problem. As if we're just supposed to ignore the drug dealers. He told me to come to this thread and look at all the stories of cop abuse. I'm not delusional, I know there are cops who abuse their power. I almost never see it where I live. My post was related to drug laws in my thread called "drugs: A moral decision, a matter of choice, or a national health risk?". I just don't see how a circle jerk cop abuse thread solves anything.

Because cops -are- a huge portion of that problem. They are -one- of the armed factions in a needless war. They recieve massive amounts of funding specifically to engage in it and are judged in important ways based upon their performance in that manufactured conflict. You live in an affluent neighborhood. Doesn;t it seem strange to you that cops don't appear to be getting down and dirty in your neighborhood when they are getting down and dirty in poor - under-represented neighborhoods? Almost as if they're picking on people specifically -because- they expect little to no resistance from either them.......or you.

They know which side of their toast is buttered, and who does the buttering. hrugs:

So you're saying that cops just don't crack down on neighborhoods that are more affluent? I get the manufactured conflict thing but I think that there's a necessity for keeping people off drugs. I don't think that it's solely an artificial crime (besides marijuana use). There may be some discretion between the neighborhoods they crack down on because those neighborhoods are easier to bust. I still think that keeping drugs off the street, for the most part is a good idea. I also said in my drug related thread I think legalizing some drugs with heavy regulations would be the solution.

That's the trend, yes. Not just neighborhoods, even individuals that may be perceived as more likely to be affluent - for example....because their skin is a few shades lighter than burnt umber.......
