Yes exactly, even in the Hitler's book Mein Kampf, there is to be found wisdom.

We atheist believe in many things, it just happens that neither God nor religion ain't any of them.

If that were so I would believe Jesus is God, but I don't. I do have doubts that he existed but just seems to me he did. It matches history. I believe all the bible characters existed. I just think their interpretation of god was wrong simply because they did not understand how weather works.

If any of us lived in that day we would have probably believed the same things.

I am thankful for some science just not the kind that kills people!!!

It is not the fault of Jesus if greedy men used his story to start the Christian religion.

Peter-denied him
Paul-killed them

I don't think these two are trust worthy. They had their own agenda. If Christians had listened to Jesus they would've saved themselves a lot of grief. They didn't and they got killed. They don't and then they do the killing; the hating.

I really don't think the Christians or the church is a portrait of what Jesus taught. In fact I think it is grotesquely disrespectful.

Belief in a Cruel God makes a Crueler Man. Thomas Paine with minor edit crueler instead of cruel.

Perhaps you read the wrong "how to be an atheist" brochure. Mine didn't advise me to dislike theists. Granted, I'm a bit lazy and skimmed over some of the wordier sections, but still.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I don't really care about that. I just find it rather pointless.

Are you saying, Rogue, that you received special spiritual insight through the character of Jesus by way of what you've been able to read between the lines of the bible? Why does he matter so much to you?

Quote:It matches history.

It matches the "history" written to incorporate the godboy into the story. Nothing more.

Actual history knows nothing of your boy.

One could unconsciously project one's own wisdom into any story, but the wisdom would still be there regardless of whether one reads the story.

Rogue,
I was reading up about Amos 5, God is not anger at religion but at ritual. The people at the time were giving offerings to God on feast days but living corrupt lives. God would prefer us to be righteous rather than ritual. Any way you cannot pick and choose what parts of the Bible to believe in, the Bible states Jesus' resurrected on the third day. It doesn't say Jesus' died to end tradition it says that Jesus dies so we will not suffer but have enternal life. John3 16. Finally the Bible also states God spoke to people like Moses.

All I am saying is don't quote certain texts out of context from the Bbible as evidence then deny other texts.

Tell that to your fellow Christians. Seems to be a lot of stuff in the Bible that shouldn't be followed today.
