And I'm going to have to side with Rasetsu if only because the way she said it carried me along and lulled me into agreement at every turn. I wasn't left to do any heavy thinking of my own and, gawd help me, I liked it.

Evidence for atheism

Rasetsu!
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
The statement is false, but the statement is only that the argument given entails the conclusion, not that the conclusion is true. The entailment, if successful, is what makes the conclusion true. That the argument doesn't entail the conclusion says nothing about the conclusion, only about the entailment. I'm still not understanding your point.

The conclusion follows from the statement, does it not (it is, in fact, part of the statement)?

The whole of the argument is not a statement. It's constituent parts (premise, conclusion) are individually. Honestly, I don't think I'm being unnecessarily pedantic here. RE: Evidence for atheism

No, I understand that we can parse them as such CD (if we wanted to consider some specific portion of the whole). We cant parse them as such -and- do logic though, can we?

The entire syllogism is not a statement and does not necessarily have a truth value.
Splitters and lumpers we are?

If I plug that in, in place of your "if p" what happens?
