Until you consider that jesus was using the Samaritan to signify the lowest of the low in society. But yet it is a good story. So is the parable of the manager and story of the man that came to jesus with a denarii. In fact I'd even be willing to believe the last one happened, as there was lots of cultists like jesus at the time.

No, he would have used "lepers" to signify the lowest of the low. He was using an example of people who the then-contemporary Palestinian Jews considered to be their mortal enemies. It'd be like saying "the good Canaanite", lol.

Really? That's what you take from the passage?

He was using the example of - hey you know those people called the "Samaritans" who you hate and think are just the worse, well they can do good too... If anything he's teaching tolerance not racism.

Yes and no, he is using the low opinion of samaritans t show if a samaritan can do good anyone can. Still may be forced to somewhat agree here.
