does death scare you and why?

i know for fact and i came to realization that. i won't be able to do everything i want in life so i should just have to enjoy what i have until i am gone. someone like i know doing something worthwhile like a song or piece of artwork or leaving a long lasting affect on many people won't happen. i am not the type of person where i wan't do things like that. i try to anyways but i only have such a small affect.

Chill, it's not like I put a knife on your neck !
I have the right to generalize since it's a well known fact.

It's not like Muslims aren't afraid. But it's true, death in Islamic communities is less feared than atheist communities.

And it's true, idiocy cloaks Muslims in ignorance.

See how that works? I can generalize you being an idiot to all Muslims since it's a well-know fact.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

Can someone explain this seduction of eternal oblivion for us lovers of life?

I probably can't, not adequately. For what it's worth, I don't feel that way anymore - though it took many years of therapy and hard work.

I don't really care to delve into the sordid details, nor does anyone up probably want to hear it - bit the gist of it is that I went through an enormous amount of shit during part of my life. The kind of shit that leaves you scarred and stained - and I never learned to come to terms with it until a few years ago. I mentally relived those traumas over and over, hundreds of times. I didn't see any escape from it except in death.

That's a wholly inadequate way to describe it, but if you can imagine how horrifying memories must be to wish for death, perhaps you can visualize it.

Yes I can.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

How many people in this thread experienced an existential crisis?

Define existential crisis. There can be so many kinds and some I've experienced personally.

I would say life is the journey and death is the end of the line. Are you sure Muslims fear death more or do they just value life less? (Maybe you're just doing it wrong.)

Realization of your own mortality.

Realization of your own mortality.

Well, yes. I had a few accidents that were close calls. And watching my parents die would certainly fall into that category too. I didn't suddenly resort to prayer when I sat at their death beds. However, I did let a priest perform the last rites on my mother. Not for my benefit, but because she was a believer and if there was a shred of consciousness left in her coma, she might have felt some comfort.

It did nothing to change my mind.
