The point of existence is to kick ass and chew bubble gum.
Until we run out of gum, then it will just be to kick ass.

I consider love more what you do and how you relate to others, something part of your being, that you cultivate and extend into the world.

Drinking beer is a valid alternative to bubble gum.

So for those who you who are not familiar with Jim Holt... He asks the question why is there something rather than nothing? I know there have been people who have asked this question before... But in the same way as Jim Holt?
Also check it out here if you want to see what I'm talking about: http://www.ted.com/talks/jim_holt_why_do...t#t-823911
He just makes some super valid points in his talk and I'm curious to know what other people think.
Why you should care, and I hope you do care. The Philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer said that "Those who don't wonder about the contingency of their existence or the contingency of the worlds existence are mentally deficient" -- That's a little harsh.. but still!! -- Jim Holt on his opening comments.

Paraphrase the super valid points?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I would be here all day.. I would be paraphrasing almost his entire speech lol....
Suppose there were nothing. Then there would be no laws; for laws, after all, are something. If there were no laws, then everything would be permitted. If everything were permitted, then nothing would be forbidden. So if there were nothing, nothing would be forbidden. Thus nothing is self-forbidding. Therefore, there must be something. - Prologue.

When faced with the question, "Why is there something rather than nothing?" I respond with:
Why not?
or
Why are you uncomfortable with not knowing ( your favourite ignorance here.)
I am certain to the point of claiming knowledge that we will never discover everything. Even if we knew everything, we couldn't know we knew everything. I Godel.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

I 100% accept the possibility that I will probably never know but considering I'm here is it not a fascinating topic of study?! I guess why anything really then if that's the mind set??? Might as well stare at rocks instead until I die? I think it's a great thing to focus on lol.
