Question about priests and offensive jokes

Question about priests and offensive jokes
Hi everyone, I'm a bit ignorant as to the exact workings of the church system so I thought some people could help me out please. I'm in the UK, but I'd also be interested in how things work in other places.

How do the priests/bishops/pastors/whatever get their wages? Is it from taxpayers' money, or church collections, or both?

And now some offensive jokes I came up with last night (christians better not read.)

RE: Question about priests and offensive jokes
Some priests earn a living from their diocese and get a pay check, health plan, etc.... and some priests belong to an order that takes a vow of poverty (called the mendicant/begging orders) like the Franciscans for instance.
TV Evangelists just prey on the dumb to get money from "donations" or "Pay Per Miracle". If i had to say they would have priests orders and do spiritual awakenings but <- were not a really spiritual country that much anymore and people pay them. they do have credit cards, bank accounts etc they do stocks to. they get a cut of the money from the income. Depends on the priest they would either take most of it because they are in it for the money or some of it.
Atheism is a non-prophet organization join today.

RE: Question about priests and offensive jokes
I encountered a priest who accepted non-cash largesse from a few parishioners. Use of a car, paid vacations, clothes etc. that sort of thing.

I can imagine it would be a common practice, but maybe really extravagant stuff would be frowned upon ?

I can speak for a pastor of my old church. From donations alone he got paid over 100,000 that was a third of our budget. He would have his quarterly "tithe" speech because the church was running in the red. All the while he was driving a mini cooper convertible and vacationing in Europe. It is all religion, not just priest's
