The whole christer pyramid scheme relies on the concept of "free will." Lucifer's "free will" got him booted from Heaven, Adam and Eve's "free will" got them booted from the garden and our "free will" is what makes us horrible sinners. Yet the christers try to sell the idea that the new heaven and the new earth will somehow be different even though all who are there will still have "free will."
If there is "free will" in the alleged afterlife, someone, sometime (we're talking about eternity after all) will fuck it up, get booted and start the whole fucking cycle over again. Christer "logic" only works up to a point (and not a very distant point at all) before it come crashing down. The willfully ignorant continue to ignore it's failings.
Pretty much why ill say this now majority of humanity is going to hell.

Well,
If hell has both a lake of brimstone (between sulfur melting (115 C) and boiling (444 C)) and a cold dark place (assuming uncomfortably cold to be less than 20 C) there are going to be some serious temperature gradients.
I'd start building a heat engine to tap the temperature differential and get some work out at say, half Carnot efficiency (22% @ Th=550K Tc=300K). That work will serve nicely to drive an air conditioner (COP 4) to pump some more heat from my part of the lake to the cold place.
As always, the engineers will be using what's available to make their local environment more to their liking. Once my vicinity is a comfortable temperature, bits of the lake are solidified and ice made, I plan to open a bar. Demons welcome if they behave themselves.
So how, exactly, does God know that She's NOT a brain in a vat?

God doesn't torture (violation of His nature). the word is better translated to mean 'restrain'. those individual that demonstrated the most evil, will have the most 'restrain' placed on them in order to protect the other inhabitants. the 'torture' is that they can't release their full fury on others.
