MERGED: The Case for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ (Part 1) & (Part 2)

We can start with PM... you take the first round replying to what I wrote back there. Wink

Nonsense..you responded to something I said shortly after I said it, which means that we are on here at the same time...which implies that if we are on here at the same time, we can be on IM at the same time.

Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades were three persons all with the same (divine) nature. How is that polytheism, yet yours is monotheism?

As far as radical Islam is concerned, I agree.

It's conceivable, isn't it? Of course I can give reasons why I believe it, but that will be for another thread.

(December 16, 2014 at 12:27 pm)Strider Wrote: We can't demonstrate or explain those things, but likewise atheism in and of itself makes no claims about the origins of life. I certainly make no claims to know how everything came to exist, but I certainly don't believe in your version. You cannot demonstrate anything to prove otherwise.

But isn't naturalism the default position if you negate the God hypothesis?

(December 16, 2014 at 12:27 pm)Strider Wrote: And the idea of life coming from an invisible sky entity who sent his alter ego (via a virgin no less) to be ultimately tortured to death is as equally stupid and unscientific to us. Not only that, it's barbaric and harkens back to the darkest and most primitive of human ideas of blood sacrifice.

You are basically just saying you don't agree with how God did his business...that is your opinion, but it doesn't defy logic and reason, like naturalism does.

(December 16, 2014 at 12:27 pm)Strider Wrote: Again, you're telling us what we believe and then trying to shift the burden of proof over to us based on what you're telling us we believe. Faith is blindly believing in something even when there's no evidence to support it.

I will ask again, if you negate the existence of God, how is naturalism not the default position?

That's why he's got away with so much shit for so long, there's three of him. Each part just keeps blaming the other two until the police give up.

Chi Pan cut an ran from the debate before it was concluded. If you think you can handle the subject any better than he did, I'll happily have that debate the same topic with you if the moderators will allow.

Poor Chi Pan probably didn't realize this wasn't a debate about Jesus Myth vs. Historicity, even though I thought I made that clear. This was a debate about whether or not the Gospels are based on a "true story", meaning Jesus was more than just "some religious leader crucified by the Romans".

To be clear: I'm not a Jesus Myther. I'm a Jesus Mooter. As in "OK, some guy named Yeshua (common name) who was some sort of Messiah wannabe (one of many) who was crucified by Pilate (like many Jewish leaders were)? Fine. Get back to me when we can know anything about him."

If you're prepared to debate that topic and the mods will allow, let me know.

I'd like to debate the Resurrection as a whole...the Gospels are just one part within the subject...which is why I tried to build a cumulative case for the Resurrection starting with Part 1, and then just build from there...but Fidel wanted to pull his God card and he kinda messed up that for me...and now you know how my case is build so the element of surprise won't be there, at least, for how I'd like it to be.

The only one this thread that's ever made an insinuation they are closer to (a) God is you. There's no such thing as a 'God' card. There's moderation to keep the forum running smoothly (which you agreed to). If you want to keep whining and bitching about it, knock yourself out. See how far it gets you.

But if merging your threads ruined your day, then maybe there is a god after all.

Quote: Claiming you can fill in with GodDidIt is a classic God of the Gaps style Argument from Ignorance.

More like an Argument From Abject Stupidity with this loser.
