Whats so offensive about Christianity

Whats so offensive about Christianity
What's so offensive about Christianity the message or the messengers.
I think it's the messengers that make it look so bad. A number of them are money grabbers that should be selling used cars. A big time preacher from this area ( now deceased) admitted that while he was going to seminary he helped rob a bank. They present themselves as about the crowd when in actuality many are the scum of society that gravitate to those positions.
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

It really depends what kind of Christianity. If you want, you can easily have an interpretation of the bible which is in and of itself offensive.
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Psalm 14, KJV revised edition

Pfft, I think the Bible itself is pretty ghastly and offensive.
In every country and every age, the priest had been hostile to Liberty.

Oh, sure. Christians usually ignore most of that stuff, though. Whenever they don't, that's when things get offensive.

The bible is offensive. As for christianity, depends on the brand and the line they're towing. In itself, nothing's offensive about christianity. Just keep it in your private room where it belongs.

Some of the dogmas are revolting. Then there's the people who use it to force their views onto everyone else.

I mean, honestly - even in non-fundie Christianity, the whole idea of teaching that we are burdened by original sin and need forgiveness in this perverse form is offensive to me.

The bible based Christian is just one that knows he is lost with out redemption. Generally speaking it is those who don't pretend that they are/can be 'good and decent people.'

The loud mouth right wing fundies that want to have their nose in everyone's business and have special rights. My grandmother is actually Christian, but I didn't know this until this year for she keeps it to herself. I'd have little beef with Christians if they all practiced their faith like this, instead of trying to force it on the rest of the world like leeches.

That's the point though. I know you would say that "no one is good, but One," and all that, but many of these preachers are pretending to be (and are viewed as) 'good, godly men.'

I have no problem with preachers having faults. I have a problem with those who preach the most about the very things they are doing repeatedly.
