If they just stuck to news about foxes, we'd all be happier I think.

Last time I talked to him his dad was in the hospital for something, had a pick on his FB page showing them smiling so it couldn't have been too major. Hoping he can spend time with me on skype today watching the Skins end their misery of a season vs Dallas. HB is no big fan of football but having been born in Texas he loves the friendly trash talk so if it gets him a laugh beating Washington it is worth the smile on his face for me. He's doing well as far as I know right now though. RE: Fox News Needs to Be Shut Down

All of these corporations suck and give biased and at times false reporting, but there are certain media outlets that are worse than others. What, shitcan the First Amendment because you don't like their opinion? What could go wrong? eta: Also, Fox supports neoconservative views, not neoliberal. There's a little difference there. The restrictions imposed on marchers during the 2012 Democratic convention did wonders in shielding the political class from the concerns of normal Americans. Where was Fox in complaining of that unwarranted restriction on the rights of those Americans to gather peaceably? Oh, that's right, they were Occupy protesters -- they don't deserve rights ... outside of a "Free Speech Zone" (Silly me, I thought the entire country was a "Free Speech Zone"!) Myself, I take the position that an abrogation of one person's right is an erosion of all our rights. They got out of school, they got into the situation America is in where student loans are as crippling as a mortgage for no fucking reason or they started to have to pay their own rent or had kids, etc. The only ones who have remained staunchly Libertarian (and in some cases, Objectivist) are the ones who never struggled for a dime in their lives.
A libertarian is someone who doesn't understand economics, or who benefits from capitalism far above the rest.
A socialist is someone who can realize how capitalism is fucking them and everyone they know over, and who isn't one of the teeny tiny majority of those making phat pay. The moment the former is exposed to reality, it's only a matter of time before they become the latter. Unless they're idiots. Then they become fans of the tea party if they are.
I used to be a socialist until I studied introduction to economics in college. I started being pretty moderate from there, social democrat centre right.

I think both outlooks have good and bad points. I also think that oversimplifications found on the Internet are usually worth every penny I pay for them. |
