It is western, but I don't feel it's country, does that make sense? Probably not. I hear a latin tinge. The horns and guitars make me think tex mex. lol I am not sure what style of music it is called, but I personally don't think it's country.

I can't agree. There is good rap, stuff that sounds like art to me and is just sweet to play. By the way, I have changed the title to clarify that there is also some amazing country and folk. Cash and Mumford & Sons are high on my list. I love an awful lot of music.

You can't deny that it has something - the lyrics are ironically self deprecating and reflective, and rhythmically quite sophisticated (I think that's my white ass way of saying that it has flow and stuff). But really, try to write something like that with the rhymes wrapping around the underlying rhythm like that in sometimes odd meters.

That's got a hell of a lot of klezmer in it, not so much country or latin.

I like all music, from classical to punk, music is something we cannot really judge. As Confucius once said, "you cannot argue with taste".

I think we can judge music, it's just that other people are legitimate to judge it differently.

Here's some Americana/alt-country music I like. They are the antithesis to modern country and bro-country. God do I hate bro-country.
