This is just re-branded Psychosomatic healing. I'm sure there's a noticeable change, but not because it's scripture, but because of Psychology.

This sort of thinking should be encouraged, even supported. Imagine all the fundys voluntarily weeding themselves out of the gene pool becuz gawd. We should give them more deadly serpents to handle too, and tell them vaccines are from teh debbil, and give them smallpox-infected blankets and clothing to prove it.

I helped my Mormon brother pack a moving truck years ago. He also had several friends from the ward join us. Not only were the band of merrymen late, they stopped to kneel and hold hands in a circle every time the bitch with a cold sneezed, meaning I'm the only one actively loading the truck.
She didn't sneeze for five consecutive minutes giving one of them enough time to ask why I was walking through the middle of their prayer circle. I simply told him that they were blocking the path to the stuff that belonged on the truck. I couldn't let it go and asked why they weren't praying for something more practical, like God filling the van. This thinned the heard, but the few remaining were equally dedicated to getting the truck loaded.
The fact is that this type of prayer isn't really meant to cure the afflicted. It is meant as demonstration of how devout and concerned the non-afflicted are.

i would have yelled for goodness sake go to the store and get that woman some cold medicine here take 5 dollars and keep the change.
