Well yeah! That's a tautology. Of course things tend to do what they naturally do, and of course they can only do it if they have the power to do it Wink

Morality is the system where ethics are the components. It's simpler to talk about ethics. Is it ethically justifiable to cause unnecessary suffering as we can know creatures to experience? It's a single consideration and not a whole moral system to cloud the issue.

I don't think it is justifiable.

I agree but it depends on alternatives IMO. I'm entirely consequentialist.

Morality is what is moral. Ethics is the study of what is moral, the study of morality. Ethics is morality discussed, right?

5 morals and 2 ethics Big Grin

Killing to eat is justifiable. Causing unnecessary suffering is ethically undesirable. You want to justify that on monetary or convenience grounds?

Let me know when you get back to food. I love a good steak. I do not deny the right or desire of the vegetarians to eat grass or moss if they like. Not for me, though.

So you eat rice and broccoli? That stuff that just gets in the way of the meat? Insanity! Tongue I don't understand why a person wouldn't eat pigs , cows, deer etc., but would eat fish. I can't see the difference between killing a cow for the purpose of consuming it flesh, and killing a fish, crab or whatever for the same purpose.

Then morality is an unnecessary variable.
