What are the issues with Isaiah 28.10

Quote:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

This is speaking of the Sabbath under the new covenant.

Quote:In this chapter, I. The Ephraimites are reproved and threatened for their pride and drunkenness, their security and sensuality, Isa. 28:1-8. But, in the midst of this, here is a gracious promise of God’s favour to the remnant of his people, Isa. 28:5, 6. II. They are likewise reproved and threatened for their dulness and stupidity, and unaptness to profit by the instructions which the prophets gave them in God’s name, Isa. 28:9-13. III. The rulers of Jerusalem are reproved and threatened for their insolent contempt of God’s judgments, and setting them at defiance; and, after a gracious promise of Christ and his grace, they are made to know that the vain hopes of escaping the judgments of God with which they flattered themselves would certainly deceive them, Isa. 28:14-22. IV. All this is confirmed by a comparison borrowed from the method which the husbandman takes with his ground and grain, according to which they must expect God would proceed with his people, whom he had lately called his threshing and the corn of his floor (Isa. 21:10) Isa. 28:23-29. This is written for our admonition, and is profitable for reproof and warning to us.

So it's a warning! Watch out! Or god'll gitcha! Satan gitcha!
That interpretation is wrong, Look at the scripture again.

Obviously the entire passage deals with some local social/political issue that the priest class was pissed off about and so they trotted out their bible bullshit to call down hellfire on the malefactors.

It's shit. Just like the rest of the bible.

It is real simple.
They refused what was written (line upon line).
So God sent them enemies they could not understand BECAUSE they, (being in a covenant which they broke) refused the rest of obedience which would have been theirs by being lawful and obedient.
That which was written became a judgment.
A good lesson for America.

Ah, so it is a prophecy for the Lord's Gay Day of Judgment Wrath which shall soon be upon us?

September of 2015 I was told on *good* authority.

God doth hate the LGBT community. Even more than shrimp. And he REALLY hates shrimp.

RE: What are the issues with Isaiah 28.10
Let me explain in detail

Quote:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
In this scripture he is saying that he will give knowledge of his word to babes (the unlearned)
At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.- Matthew 11:25

Quote:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
"Precept upon Precept" could basically be interpreted as "scripture upon scripture", in other words scripture must be according to scripture, it can't contradict.
Quote:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
Acts 2
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Keep in mind that these people were ignorant and unlearned (couldn't read or write), yet everyone heard them in their own language.
Quote:12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.

This is the rest (sabbath) Jesus spoke about (the gift of the holy spirit), which is why we no longer observe the sabbath as the Jews do.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. - Matthew 11:28-29

Quote:13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
This is saying the word of God is written in a way that confuses those unworthy of it.
