The Lie: Hands up. Don't shoot.

The "Hands up. Don't shoot", in the Michael Brown incident, has been determined by the DOJ to be "Bogus".
Johnathan Capehart: "Hands up, don’t shoot’ was built on a lie"
Quote:What DOJ found made me ill. Wilson knew about the theft of the cigarillos from the convenience store and had a description of the suspects. Brown fought with the officer and tried to take his gun. And the popular hands-up storyline, which isn’t corroborated by ballistic and DNA evidence and multiple witness statements, was perpetuated by Witness 101. In fact, just about everything said to the media by Witness 101, whom we all know as Dorian Johnson, the friend with Brown that day, was not supported by the evidence and other witness statements.

Does that justify killing him?
He reached into the cop's car and started a scuffle. Did the policeman have no nonlethal alternatives?
What was wrong with pressing the accelerator and pulling away slowly? Or tasing him? Or using pepper spray? Or rolling up the window?

The cop is not a judge, he must follow his training, and the training that cops receive tell them to use deadly force, IE shoot and kill, someone that tries to take their side arm from them.
If you don't like this training, then push to change the training given to police.

Just an example that happened yesterday in Vienna. Madman in Shaolin outfit, armed with a Samurai sword knocked down an appartment door. The girls living there managed to flee. Cops were called and when they arrived at the scene, the guy was on the stairs threatening them. Pepper spray didn't work on him, but they managed to subdue him anyway. Some got hurt, but the guy is safely stored in a mental hospital - as it should be.
Question: How would that same incident have turned out in the USA?

The guy would have been shot before the apartment door hit the floor.

A "madman" would have been killed. Is the world in such need of saving antisocial madmen that we must ask policemen to risk their own lives in dealing with them? Why do we fall all over ourselves praising and honoring soldiers that kill "opposing madmen" without ever giving them much of a chance to surrender, but vilify policemen that sometimes don't go to extreme lengths?

Yeah, and my respect goes out to those officers who actually risked life and limb to resolve a situation without leaving bodies on the ground.

[emphasis mine]
Only in America because the ideal training for a cop teaches them to use deadly measures when their life is clearly at stake and not when they think they might remotely be in danger - Cops are taught to use all kinds of methods to immobilize targets and deadly force is usually a last resort - I.e. When someone points a pistol against the cop (and even in this case cops in my country are taught to shoot legs instead of heads/chest). The important question here is to know what happened specifically and if it justified killing someone - Your instinct and sixth sense are not evidence that someone's about to kill you (nor the colour of someone's skin) - Only empirical observable acts that clearly denote the intention of violence against you or an innocent person should be considered appropriate to fire a shot

If Mr. Brown wasn't a piece of shit he would still be alive.
What was wrong with him not being a thieving, threatening, menace to society piece of shit?
