If you weren't an Atheist/Theist
April 22, 2015 at 8:46 pm
(This post was last modified: April 22, 2015 at 8:48 pm by Polaris.)
For the atheists, if you could choose a spiritual way of life (you can still be atheist depending on your answer), what would it be?
For the theists, if you no longer believed or never did believe in your faith, what spiritual path would you follow or would you instead being non-religious?
For myself, I would follow the old Celtic faith. Not sure I would actually believe it, but I would probably follow it to be closer with my natural surroundings and perhaps encounter nature of a mystical level. Not a big fan of how New Age has bastardized the old ways to fit into a commercialized way of life. In a way, I kind of do some of that already as I have Native American religious icons in my room.
But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.

Deism or liberal forms of paganism/neo-paganism.

Maybe pantheism. Glorifying nature, and the universe around me. I'd be dedicated to taking care of the planet, and everyone in it, without trying to shove my beliefs down everyone's throat. When asked why I think people should follow my way of life, I can give tangible reasons.

Personally I don't consider myself spiritual.

I think pantheism is technically atheism with a sense of awe and wonder for the universe. Einstein wasn't a theist like some Christians like to proudly say.

I have had good experiences with the Quakers. I went to a summer camp run by the New England Yearly Meeting.
Mayyyyyyybe Judaism, but I'd need to learn more about it. My father's uncle through marriage is Jewish, and he's a wonderful guy. But, I'm also aware of many problems with that faith. So, I dunno.

Judaism: All the worst parts of the bible, without the slightly softer stuff tacked on at the end.
Yeah, pantheism is still kind of atheistic because I wouldn't be worshiping a god per se. I just don't see much appeal in theism.

Some of the Eastern philosophies are interesting to me.

Does pastafarianism count? If not, I'll probably go Buddhist and learn some Kung Fu.
