USA and Gun control

RE: USA and Gun control
I voted for reducing current restrictions whilst simultaneously bringing in universal background checks.

Reduced restrictions such as bans on assault weapons, clip sizes, etc. Universal background checks should focus on criminal activity and mental health. I'm also for banning people who are involved in gun related incidents where their irresponsibility is the cause (e.g. kid gets hold of gun).

Ssshhh...Divi Tiberio.  Always stake out your position from the start and come down from there.

You don't want to be like Obama who took single-payer off the table without even being asked!

Well, I'm not American but guns and people are the same everywhere (except for the language), so I think it would be best for everyone if they impose a psychic test and the gun to be given only to those who pass the test. You can't give a gun to a mentally unstable individual and hope he won't kill anyone in a sudden burst of rage. Unfortunately, I've seen that here and the perpetrator was a cop. He killed his gf because she left him. And when you see his manners and way of thinking in the news report, you think "how is it possible that psycho to be given a gun, let alone to protect civilians?".

Sure but that is not a cure-all, either.  If you wade through the All Hail The Second Amendment Thread you'll see situation after situation where a 3-4 year old child finds a gun and kills himself or someone else.  People are simply not careful enough with guns.  And how do you cure carelessness.

I never said it would remove all the problems but it's a way to reduce innocent people being killed for nothing. Of course it won't remove stupidity and/or carelessness but one psycho without a gun is one saved life. One is better than none.

Reality: gun control: less deaths due to guns.

Reality: gun freedom: more deaths due to guns.

REALITY.

I voted 4 & 5 as well. I'd also like to see mandatory psych evals every few years as a condition of handgun ownership. I'd also like to see smart-gun technology brought to the level that on the authorized (and tested) owner can fire his gun. That would help address child.accidents as well as stolen gun issues.

If there are guns available the psychos will find them.  The nut who shot up Sandy Hook elementary killed his own mother and stole her guns to commit the crime.
