Dude. It's a part of the catholic doctrine, which makes up for 1/2 of all christians. That kinda does constitute a whole lot of believers.

Simple rule: if sex is being done to you and you don't really want it, it's rape. Period.

But the person telling her to submit to the rape is a Christian and he is using the bible to justify his position. To be fair, this is a fundamentalist position and I don't think that it is shared by most Christians.

Read some blogs by fundamentalist. This is actually a common view held by many of them.

Some of the strongest voices against Christian fundamentalists are other Christians. You don't have to be an atheist to be disgusted with this man's viewpoint but it isn't one held only by him.
