Yeah, I liked reading his posts, he seemed awesome.

Welcome Starlord! I'm curious to see how you defend your deism. I'm genuinely interested in deistic arguments, but it seems to boil down to the prime mover or Kalam Cosmological Argument. You will have to better than, "Everything is so beautiful" argument, because of the pictures Min just showed you. At the same time, that's the work of deistic god, because a deistic god doesn't intervene in the world, which makes much more sense than the christian perspective on reality. Good to have ya

The thing I wonder about deists is whether they're referring to "some sentient being" that created the universe, or some sort of traditional God. For example, our reality could be a simulation run on a computer by some asswipe. Would believing that make someone a deist? You could even maybe refer to this guy as all powerful with regard to our reality, but there's no reason to expect him to hold the same power in his own.
I understand the feeling that something made our reality (although I can't see any evidence for that conclusion yet) but what I don't get is assigning a bunch of characteristics to it as well. I'm not sure if deists go in for that or not. Probably either way though, team D and team A are exactly the same in practical terms so I don't draw much of a distinction

Seriously? No-one did this yet? Seriously?
For real though, welcome to the forum. If you're getting hassle from Christians, tell them to fuck off. Carve your own path. Make up your own damn mind.

I was a deist too, once. If you're interested, you'd only have to think about this yourself to reach a firmer conclusion on the topic. Just write an essay about it. Make the arguments to yourself and then weigh the logic in those.
If you happen to reach the conclusions I did, you'll find yourself in the same position Neo was in, in the Matrix, upon taking the red pill. You'll find that you basically lived your whole life dreaming, and it will be kind of scary to realise just how much of a zombie you really were.
I don't know what taking the blue pill entails.
Whatever side you end up leaning on, or even if you choose to stick to your current stasis, I am welcoming you with open arms. Have a great time on the forums.

I see all Deists as neutral.
(In fact I see god the same if he existed) never believed any of the "human" aspects man has put on God. Therefore Bible = BS.
The obvious explanation is mother nature is the unconscious force of nature. Sorry egoists ...nothing in it for any of us...
We exist for one simple reason ... nature rolled the dice so many times, it just had to eventuate. The irony is that the only thing which could have stopped this event from occurring would be is a "god" intervened! True story! hehe

Sometimes, it's not as easy as it looks. These impulses of mine in waiting to stop them from using fear tactics to others don't have to suffer are kinda hard to suppress.
I can appreciate that, but my advice is as others. Don't let it get to you. There's always going to be haters, the worst thing you can do is let their petty beliefs affect you, because that's what they're after
Realise you're having a rough ride in your joining here, but welcome to the forum all the same. ^_^
