I call it a bigger issue as more people care, and therefore more people are on opposing sides of an issue. If an issue is not that big, it will draw fewer people into it, and thus less mixing of groups entering one side or the other.
I think it is harder to find a significant racist enclave as big as the homophobic enclaves. Because being a racist today is an instant career killer. Being homophobic? Hell, you might just win attorney general of Michigan.
Yeah, I see what you're saying - I think we're looking at two sides of the same coin. To sort of use your words, the way I saw it was no one seems to care if we have a leader of a different race (well, unless it's a person of middle eastern descent running for office) but they get entirely bent out of shape if they find out the person's gay (or atheist!).

We reach.
It's totally not ok to be racist. It's semi-ok to be a sexist. And for the most part, being homophobic is the norm.
It's not right in any sort. It all stinks.

Yeah, responses like Solja247's is why I was curious to ask the question in the first place. Why on earth wouldn't or shouldn't we treat them as all the same? I agree. But it's odd that some people seem to find some worse than others and even provide a ranking like Solja. That was why I was curious to ask.

Selling myself short eh Elio? How you figure?
Seems you are alluding if one is a sexist homophobic they are also a racist by default?
That would be quite a blanket insult to us homophobic sexists. So I'm sure that couldn't be what you meant.....
...could it?
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Racism+Sexism+Homophobia=Mean
Racism=Sexism=Homophobia
Therefore they are all mean in the same way. It has been mathematically proven.

I'm sexists but not homophobic. Just picky. To borrow from HeyItsZues
Ugly dyke=ewwwy, get away
Hot chick=Hey, how you doin'?
And sometimes I tend (not on purpose) to switch up the former and the ladder, say, with vodka, dancing all night and waking up the next morning with a hangover only to discover next to you is the same girl you called ugly last night... and you have no idea why she's at your house... until she wants to make you breakfast... >.>'
But in all seriousness.
They are three seperate incomparible things. I've received rasists remarks from black people (without provocation, mind you) and then sexist remarks when clubbing (slight provocation there, can't help it lol) and it leaves two different marks. One is just a guy mad that he's not getting his way. The other are a bunch of angry looneys that pity themselves (or pride themselves) too much to get over their racism.

They are not equally bad, because none of them are necessarily bad in the first place. I suppose you could say they are equally comparable as things... or equally bad in them not being bad at all necessarily

Easy Skip - he was speaking rhetorically to express what seems to be the cultural norm.
