DEBUNKING THE CONSPIRACY THEORY
#81
RE: DEBUNKING THE CONSPIRACY THEORY
I wonder if Jesus would have been resurrected if he had been filled with hot lead by one of our trigger happy cops?  I'll bet that's why he went with the crucifixion trick.  Did you know that Filipinos do the crucixion trick every year?  One guy has been crucified about 30 times without any ill effect (other than being dumber than a rock).

RE: DEBUNKING THE CONSPIRACY THEORY
He's quite welcome to turn up and demonstrate. It would save all this nonsense.

If you already believe he is God, then him pretending to be a human, pretending to die and then going "Tadah!" is not really that impressive.

And if you don't already believe he is God, these arguments are woefully inadequate to alter that.

Woeful doesn't even cover it.

Theists seem to believe that even if they somehow demonstrate that it is factually true that Jesus existed, it automatically follows that the claims about him are also facts. They're not.

What in reality you'd be left with is a Jewish magician who made a public already predisposed to believing In magic believe that he was magical or even 'divine'.

I repeat my first post into this silly thread, it is impossible for someone to 'come back from the dead' until it is proven not to be. Billions of years of evidence suggest it is impossible. That's a big mountain to climb to counter. I don't think Randy is up for the task.

You only need ask why he doesn't accept the magical stories in every other religious text to see the obvious special pleading and total lack of intellectual rigour at work.

Would it be reasonable to call religion a "socially acceptable professed delusion"? That's the best case scenario anyway. The professed part is optional. The idea that these delusions are adequate responses to any real world question just buggers my mind.

Confabulation! That's the explanation. Can we move on now or do we need another thread on the resurrection in such a short period of time? Dead Horse

Actually, this is the same thread all over again.
In the end, it can be broken down to:

'BBBBBUT THE TOMB WAS EMPTY!!!!1!1!1 WHAT'S YOUR THEORY HUH?!?!?!!'

All the objections to this line of thinking notwithstanding. I guess they're not in his scenario.

If they don't have the biological evidence corroborating resurrections, I just don't care. All this is empty conjecture without hard evidence corroborating the vague, biased resurrection anecdotes. Nothing has changed since the last thread.
I really don't understand these kind of arguments about naturalism vs supernaturalism. Supernaturalists want to claim there are things beyond the scope of scientific investigation; yet, they rule out rival non-scientific claims with no argument or evidence. After all, if science is to be ignored by Christian theists then I don't see why non-Christian theists and atheists can't cook up non-scientific claims too without evidence.
Holy double standards! Dead Horse

Same shit; different thread.

Thanks for the post, Randy. Now we can put any worries about you losing that sweet talent of bullshit juggling to bed.

What would we do without our entertainment? Am I right?
