RE: I had a mental breakdown
Rob,
I am so upset for you.  You are one of my favorite people on this site.  I don't know what to say that has not been said, other than when and if this happens again try to remember all of your friends that love you and are in your corner holding you up!  Your wife sounds great give yourself and her a hug for me.  Be kind to yourself!

RE: I had a mental breakdown
That sucks, rob. I'm really sorry that happened to you. I've been there, so I know how astonishingly horrible that is. If you ever feel the need to talk to someone with experience, feel free to PM me.

As for the nurse, I've come to believe that it is naive to expect any real understanding of psychiatric issues from the medical community. So much so that many of them lack any real empathy for people suffering from psychiatric issues. When I was younger and was getting to an extreme low point, I told my parents that I wanted to hurt myself. We couldn't reach my psychiatrist, so my parents did the only thing they could think of and took me to the E.R. I explained the issue to the doctor tasked with looking at me, and after being unable reach anyone at my doctors, he looked at me and snidely asked, "What do you want me to do about it?" as if he was trying to understand how this was his problem. I had to practically beg him to let me stay at the psychiatric facility there.

You just can't take the ignorance about depression personally. Fuck that nurse and everyone else that can't recognize when another human being is in true pain.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Thanks so much to all of you Smile Your kind words and encouragement mean a huge amount to me. You all make me even more determined never to let the evil depression win.

I'm glad I shared my experience here, I knew you'd all support me.

Rob, I hope you are better now. I am so very sorry you had to go through that.

Stay strong and hang in there Rob. You have people that love you, and people that obviously care about you on here. Keep trying to find little things in everyday life that make your life worth living. I’m sure your pets help a great deal, and hopefully people on here can keep you happy as well. You're easily one of the best members on here, and people really want to see you on here for a very long timel. Smile Hang in there my friend.

Jibbers, rob.

I really hope you are better and that was a one off. You are in my thoughts, friend.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

I'd offer to pray for you but I'm afraid it would be insulting to admit so openly how little I intend to do for you. If we lived closer, I'd offer to come over and feed the menagerie for you until you felt better.
