If You Were An Atheist

RE: If You Were An Atheist
"If you were an atheist tomorrow, how would you change the rest of your life? Personality, morals, etc."

Morally? My life would be relatively unchanged.

Otherwise, I'd take a hell of a lot less risks. I'd have never went skydiving or river rafting. I'd get regular checkups every month, instead of once a year. I'd play it much safer if I knew (or believed) this life was the only one I had.

Actually your first word is "Absolutely".  Which means you are affirming an absolute while denying their existence.  Again self-defeating.  unfortunately for you.  Wink

Will you two please get a room already? Gawd...

Why? You would believe that this is the only life you have, so you should have as much fun as possible until it is over.

Exactly.  Living longer means having more fun.

And do what exactly?  Let you watch for free?  I don't think so.

I haven't noticed that the fun I've had is always proportional to the amount of time that's gone by.  Quantity does not always equal quality.  [And no I don't only say this because I've had to have this conversation with every new intimate.]

Well, driving is more dangerous than sky diving, so I guess you would never drive. If you never drove then it would be almost impossible for you to get anywhere in any reasonable amounts of time. If you can never get anywhere, then what kind of life would you be living?

The question I propose to you is:
  1. If you were an atheist tomorrow, how would you change the rest of your life? Personality, morals, etc.
I only decided to put one question this time, so it should be pretty easy to answer.

Thanks!

Asking someone what they'd be like if they were totally different is not a simple question at all.  Shy

I know there are exceptions, but generally speaking, a person's faith (if it's a strong faith) doesn't normally tend to be some little surface part of themselves. For me, it's so much a part of me, and so contributory to who I am and how I was led to be this way, that I'd have no idea what I'd be like without it. You may as well ask me what I'd be like if I was a man lol. I have no idea.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Driving isn't more dangerous than sky diving.  More people die from driving, but that's because more people drive.  It's like saying "More people are killed by vending machines each year than Sharks, so Vending Machines are more dangerous than Sharks." Would you rather be trapped in a cage with a shark, or a vending machine?
