Or don't, and sleep in the bed backwards instead?

F) Fuck it.

Option number E.

Funny topic. I’ve flipped my body around when having a hard time falling asleep a few times, and woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, reach for my water, or crack my back and had a few head butts with the wall and almost fell out of bed a few times too.

I think I'll go with D) Hammer Time

In the beginning it would happen nearly every night but with time the occurrences became rarer. I would basically lie awake with the unshakable impression that I'm positioned exactly opposite to how I had actually been lying down. Nothing, save for turning the light on and seeing the room would make me feel normal again.

What is this wizardry? ._.

So to me, the bold seems to be the part that begs for an answer. I've had the kind of feelings you're talking about, maybe not exactly, but similar enough that I think I get it. Is seems like the anxiety of not being certain of your position is troubling you - it seems to me that you could try to adopt a (for lack of a better word) "zen" attitude towards your position. You might find it less troubling if you can.

It's funny you should say that. A couple nights ago, after having the first anxiety attack in months and still being unable to calm down at night, the feeling came back with unusual strength. It was like on one of the first nights after turning the bed. Touching the wall didn't even help. And you're right, I can't sleep until I shake that feeling. I'll try it, thanks.

One day i dozed off in the afternoon.I woke up after some loooonng hours and i didn't remember a thing :o,I looked outside my window and i saw that everything was dark outside.So i assumed that it must have been probably the early morning.I was too tired when i went to sleep that i didn't remember a thing.But i got a weird feeling,like something wasn't right.So i got up and turned on the light in our living room.I went to check on my mom and sis.Holy fuck they weren't in the house.I started panicking!! I tried to remember what happened but i couldn't recall a thing!! :o I called out "MOOOOOOOOOOM!!!" and after panicking some more i looked at the clock and it was just 8pm. Mom and sis had went out. I sometimes change the direction in which my body lays in bed, without moving the bed.

My mother is very hard of hearing and once entered my bedroom when I had the blinds drawn, in the middle of the day,
as I was laying down with a headache.

She wanted to ask me a question that could not wait.

She was used to my head pointing north, but I was at that time sleeping with my head pointing south.

In the dim half-light from the doorway, I could see her leaning over, softly addressing my feet, in the darkness.

I spoke:  "Mom, I'm down here. "

She heard me speak, but she couldn't make out the words.  " What? "

I repeated myself, trying to avoid actually sitting up, because movement makes my migraine worse.

" MOM!  I'm down HERE! "

She leans closer to my feet.  " I'm sorry, I can't understand you. "

I sat up....she still didn't notice.

I tapped her on the elbow.

She jumped out of her skin.

I don't like being disoriented when I wake up, especially from a midday nap, either, so I've tried to get into the practice of noting the time, date, and day of the week before laying down to go to sleep.  I also keep the TV remote by me so I can quickly turn on the TV listings or weather channel, and see the date and time.

But....funny story, unrelated to sleep, but also scary:

One evening (after the sun had already set) I was home with my family.

The house was full of people...except my youngest sister, who was still at work.

Every light in the house was on, the TV was on, a radio was on, in one of the bedrooms
....lots of light and noise and activity.

Well, I decided to go to my room, close the door, flip on the light, and put the radio on.

I had it on at a fairly good volume.

I was in there for some time.

Finally I decided I'd go and check on an ETA for dinner.

Purposefully, I killed my radio, killed my bedroom light, and flung open my bedroom door.

Now,

While I had been in my room, my sister had gotten home from work.

My sister is an amateur designer, always making clothes, but back at that time, she was just getting set up,
and she needed a piece of equipment called a "dress form"...basically like a headless mannequin to put a garment on for the purposes of making adjustments.

She was having a hard time finding one, and was getting a bit impatient.

At the business where she worked, she found a decrepit, creepy old mannequin abandoned in a closet,
and received permission to bring it home and use it as a makeshift dress-form.

I had no idea, at the time, that this was in the works.

Well, she came home from work, that night, while I was in my room with the door closed and the radio blaring
....and planted this thing right in the hall outside my bedroom door;
she didn't do it deliberately to scare me; there was just nowhere else to put it.

THEN the whole family decided to step out, for some reason, turning off all the lights and radios and TV before they left,
leaving ONLY the light from inside the oven, to see by.

No-one told me.

I thought the house was full of people.  I didn't hear them leave.  And I didn't know about the goddamn mannequin.

I killed my radio, and bedroom light, and flung open my door, expecting a noisy, brightly-lit house full of people.

Instead, darkness and silence greeted me, with only a faint, eerie bluish glow coming down the hallway from the kitchen

...and there, faintly illuminated and leering towards me, with weird glass eyes that pointed in two different directions,
was a 6-foot tall, pale, skinny, disjointed, bald figure with missing fingers.

I don't clearly recall what transpired, next;

I know I ended up on the floor, and there was this awful noise;
I realized it was my own screaming;

I think I must have slipped in my own shit.
