preachers on AF rant
August 29, 2015 at 3:36 pm
One of our rabid theists posted links in one of my recent threads to some of his earlier postings. (I'm not REALLY supposed to read back a year before I post, am I?) Of course, these links led to the very same type of cr*p we're used to seeing him dump on a thread.
My question is, on average, HOW LONG does it take a preacher on AF to realize that many of us were raised Xtian? (Unfortunately, I can still quote large portions of the Bible by memory.) How long does it take them to realize that we have read the Bible, the Catechism, and most of the books/authors they cite? How long does it take them to realize that our Atheism was a conscious, intellectual decision, and that we have already rejected all of their so-called "proof". How long does it take them to realize that we REALLY DON'T BELIEVE GOD EXISTS????
Fables and arguments and word salad and old theologians and "stupid atheist, I GAVE YOU THE BIBLE VERSE!!!" . . . yawn.

On average?
About... never.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I'm personally immensely fascinated by Chick Tracts. If you read one it's like nobody except for the main protagonist has ever heard of Jesus, ever. In 20-21st century America.

Let them preach if it gets their rocks off. We all have our favorite porn. The only time when it really annoys me is when someone does nothing but. These are usually some brain amputated newbs on a mission, who fire off a few bible quotes, and when they fail to hit their marks, leave after two or three posts.

Have you seen the one about Noah and the flood? It has panels that show people riding dinosaurs, and claims that the Earth was encased in a huge canopy of ice that orbited above the atmosphere. Weather was perfect everywhere, and everyone lived to be 900 years old. Heh.

Love those things, TheBibleReloaded on YouTube does excellent voice overs for them.

Hopefully someday, some of theists on here will start to use their brains, and see that we don’t take their book as evidence.
There was a man that lived 9,700 years ago that flew around the world without any assistance.
I don’t believe you.
God said it in his book.
Ok, it must be true.
If only they could see it like that. That’s the way it really is, but with a jesus character, and they just can’t seem to see it.

What I don't understand about Bible Believers is -- why they can't admit that there are things in their bible that are wrong. I mean even if you take most of it as true -- surely you could admit that there are errors. Why wouldn't there be? It wasn't written by god. It was 'inspired' by god, and who the fuck knows what that means? The church then got together and decided which were true, and which weren't. How did they know some of them weren't meant to be allegorical? Instead they insist the bible is 100% literal, and 100% true, and anyone who says otherwise is a horrible person that's going to hell. Based NOT on what their god did or said, but based on what someone over 1500 years ago decided belonged.

Theistically, they are amongst the smartest of their like-minded peers, and they always wonder why their misguided intelligence goes unnoticed and gets ridiculed when confronted with actual reason.
