preachers on AF rant

RE: preachers on AF rant
It's because they depend totally on a dataset containing nothing but corroborative anecdotes. Anything that goes against the data has to be rejected, for fear of undermining the whole thing. I've spoken before about the dream I once purported to have, in which "God" told me "he" doesn’t exist; and how the theist I with whom I was in conversation decided that, of the three possible options (just a dream, genuine god communion, the devil tricking me) the most plausible was the third one.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

That about sums it up. Some people who may otherwise be very good at assigning probabilities suddenly go doo-lally if their religion is on the line.

Doo-lally! Where did that come from, not said that in a long time.

Maybe if he provided links to previous threads of his own work, he isn't posting to tracts of scripture or some other well worn church tactic. Perhaps this "af preacher" is pointing back to to an experience, or arguement (or both) that he has had in the past the directly addresses what you (one of many people like you/ex Christians ) have to say and think about 'proof of God.'

Maybe this "af preacher" is looking to see how envolved you will get on this topic before he willing to invest the effort needed to give a noob shooting cliche'-ed/atheist standard arguments from the hip.

Standard atheist argument= standard Christian response..

Or at least that how I would do it.

I believe that my original post states that I clicked on the links.
arguement should be spelled "argument".   envolved should be spelled "involved".   "he willing to invest the effort"   --  really now.

Don't bother investing your time, Drich.  Really.  Nothing you can possibly type is going to have any effect on me other than wasting our time.   No personal story, no bible verse, no quote, no author, no theologian's argument, no cute remembrance - - I do not accept any of that as "proof".
Again sport, what if those were your 'remembrances'? (If you did click on BOTH links provided you would be speaking to not only the instance I have described but the principle driving it, you only speak to the instance which tells me you did not read the other link like you said you did or you do not understand it.)

Either way the question now is if God sent you a messenger to out line your whole life for you (past present and future) would you deny Him?

That is the question you seem to be avoiding/do not understand.

(Maybe if you did not spend so much time grading spelling you might be able to have/hold a topical conversation.)

See what I said in the post above. God offers this level of proof to all of us who need it. You simple have to ask seek and knock for it

Deolali was the site of a British transit camp in India. Residents would often go out of their minds with the heat, known as Deolali Tap (thought to derive from the Sanskrit tapa, or fever.

Sport???  "Nothing you can possibly type is going to have any effect on me other than wasting our time."   Ok, I lied.  I wasted time reading this, and now I'm angry at myself.  You can't comprehend even the simplest of sentences, can you?  I do not accept any of your so-called "principles".  I do not accept any of your stories.  I do not respect your theologians or your Bible, and your GOD is a made-up asshole with less value than the Lucky Charms Leprechaun.  And now I'm blocking you.

The D&D one is amazing.

Just googled that one. How is that supposed to appeal to anyone that has ever played a role playing game? All it could have ever done was made gullible parents more paranoid about their children when role playing games were first developed.

I've considered copying those chick tracts and changing the text in the speech balloons to something completely different.

Each segment is a different image file so they'd have to be individually downloaded and pasted together again though.

I have a lot of 'em as .pdf files.  They're low-res, but readable.  Send me an e-mail through AF, letting me know where to send 'em, -- just promise to let me see the spoofs you create!      Tongue

Well firstly I would need extradinary evidence that this was true and as I have no idea what sort of thing this could possibly be becuase of the nebulous way god is defined. So theres that. But mostly I would think what a fucking nerve, trying to tell me what to do.
