The irony of having their nominee rise to prominence on the anti-immigrant hatred they would normally exploit to keep their short-sighted base pulling the "R" lever while the corporations behind the GOP curtain continue to reap more and more tax breaks, only to see the same nominee turn around and start snapping back at them, must be disconcerting, to say the least. The Times quotes an American Enterprise Institute mouthpiece for the hedge fund industry who concurs, with a masterful degree of understatement:

“Those aren’t the types of things a typical Republican candidate would say,” said Michael R. Strain, a scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, referring to the candidate’s comments on hedge funds, support for entitlement spending and the imposing of trade tariffs. “A lot of these things are not things that businesses would be happy about.”

Paul today blasted Trump, accusing the celebrity mogul of masking liberal views with red-meat rhetoric.

“There is a lot of bluster and anger on Trump’s part, but a lot of his solutions are big government solutions,” Paul said. “I think eventually people are going to come to their senses and say ‘oh my God, I liked his angry vitriol, but I didn’t realize he was for gun control, Obamacare, increasing taxes, and taking private property.’ ”

The Kentucky senator had lashed out at Trump in the first primary debate earlier this month and said he will be campaigning hard to warn Republican about what he described as the billionaire’s moderate views.

You see, Trump's problem isn't that he's a narcissistic, out-of-touch billionaire that thinks everyone that isn't rich is a total loser and promotes unrealistic, draconian measures to deal with illegal immigration.  It's that he's too moderate.

Judicial Ruling Results in Potential Shut Down of Kansas State Courts

Attorney General Derrick Schmidt informed the courts today that their adverse ruling to the Republican preferred outcome in the Solomon case could have some negative financial results for the Kansas Judicial system.  Judge Hendricks was asked to rule on an administrative change. Chief Justice Solomon had argued that the legislative change, which strips the Kansas Supreme Court of administrative authority over district courts, is unconstitutional and violates the separation of powers doctrine.
