The point, as I said numerous times is erecting a religious monument on public ground and them protesting it in a provocative way. RE: Your thoughts on Satanism and the petition for a Satanic statue.

My religious monument is OK, not yours.
I believe that about sums it up. Next thread.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Which Satan Temple symbol would you not find something about which to complain? What did Satan ever actually do besides piss off god? There a myriad of things that god has done that deserves the title of "bad guy".

Well then you're in luck, because Baphomet is not Satan. Baphomet, in the form the statue depicts, is the Sabbatic Goat, which is a figure that has no relation at all to any biblical figure. Not all horned goat-men are Satan, CL: Look out, it's the prince of lies!

You really have to expect that Catholic priests are going to mate with goats and stuff when they commit themselves to "celibacy." When with the goat-men not be blamed for what their fathers did? Your religion stole the image of your "bad guy" from other, older religions in order to vilify and mock them. Look up Pan, from Greek mythology, or Satyrs from Roman - that's what Satan was modelled after. Of course - I suppose your religion has every right to ridicule others, because you're "special". By which I mean - "bigoted" and "self-righteous".

Not that this hasn't been addressed, but this last bastion of "reasoning" that you cling to is just so ridiculous that it's obscene. You know that this statue was meant to be provocative, and that the intent behind the provocation was to cause thought -not hatred-... it's been explained to you now for twenty-nine pages. Do you think that there haven't been other attempts to get eyes and ears on this seemingly never-ending situation of religious oppression before? There have been. People have petitioned and talked until their hands have cramped and they're blue in the face, to little effect imo. Provocation is one of the only things that has provided such a brilliant highlight to the issue at hand. If your initial reaction as a Christian was offense then the job is half done, the only thing that's left is to set aside the first reaction and think. Bloody hell.
