Theists and Atheists: the "is there a God Devil's advocate thread

RE: Theists and Atheists: the "is there a God Devil's advocate thread
This would be very interesting if there were more theists to actually argue with. Wonder if any of them would get frustrated arguing against some of the logic they use.

How do you explain a baby's smile?

Of course God exists. You don't believe because you've allowed so much sin into your life that you can't accept the idea of god. God has hardened your heart just as he did Pharaohs.

You call God a psychopath who killed over a million people, and you want to piss him off by not believing in him? You'll be burning in the eternal lake of fire for sure!

Do you really think we evolved from Monkey's without some help from a divine creator? How did man and woman evolve at the same time?!

God buried dinosaur bones to test our faith. How else was he going to test us. If scientists discovered the world was 6000 years old (which it is!), then nobody would have free will. So he had to make the world look like it was millions of years old so as to make sure that we all had free will. Isn't he a kind and loving god to make sure we can all have free will?

You silly theists. it is you who have the burden of proof. as an atheist, I have a non-belief or a non-position. so i'll just sit back in my chair and pick apart your arguments as they're presented. and remember, you need extraordinary evidence to make extraordinary claims. if I don't think your evidence is extraordinary enough, then you haven't sufficiently shown that your 'imaginary sky daddy' exists Tongue

how's that?
I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them.

You make a good point, RAKD.

I really do have a position on the existence of fairies, but I just like to pretend I'm a non-position and sit back in my chair and listen to the fairyists tell me about Pixieland.

It's how I get my kicks. They get sooo frustrated I won't believe, because after all, you can't know fairies are real unless you believe in them, first. Then they'll talk to you.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Atheists are weak minded previledged children. They will turn to god as soon as they or any children of theirs catches cancer. Because god all mighty needs people to suffer in order to believe in him as god is clearly a man. God created cancer too, not because of imperfection, but a way to make mankind find him.

(I will take a long bath now)

Very good. But do I detect a hint of satire there Big Grin
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Your hand fits perfectly? I need both hands for mine.

Lucky!  It takes the big mitts of father Sampson to get around mine.  He has a fun way of stoking my faith.  If everyone was treated to father Sampson's ministry, there would be no atheists.  You poor atheist bastards should really cum into the light.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
