Who is the assholiest Theist you've met in REAL LIFE?

I've never met a theist asshole in real life. Try as I might, I can't come up with any example.

Seems like the media and the internet are negative selection. The assholiest ones I've met here. Most of them already banned or no longer active.

I had to think about it.

One of my recent co workers was very religious. But she didn't really shove it down my throat. Which is a dick thing to do.

One of my current co workers talks A LOT about her church stuff. But she is pretty nice over all.

I lived in one town and in the middle of one of my Lutheran indoctrinational things I needed to do. (I don't remember what it was called, I had already been "confirmed" and baptized.)
We moved to a small town. I had another pastor who was going through this with me. I had to memorize a bunch of stuff. The books of the bible, the apostles creed, and a bunch of other stuff. The guy was a jerk. He didn't want to be doing this and neither did I. He almost didn't let me finish. He was the only Lutheran pastor in town. I remember going to a Methodist church a couple of times after that. Then we stopped going to church altogether.

I wouldn't call her an asshole, per se, but Movie Lady is a real piece of work. She's on the fundy/evangelical side of the spectrum, seriously right-wing politically, and I've heard her go on at length about how the story of Abraham sacrificing Issac is beautiful, how women who don't give it up to their husbands (even in cases where the woman find sex very painful) are bad wives and are driving their husbands into porn addictions, and who I recently saw had hardcore creationist DVDs on her movie shelf.

With this being said, though, she's funny and affable when she's not spouting on about Jesus or Reagan.

Luckily I haven't met any in real life. Any theist who knows I'm an atheist is pretty nice about it.

Do you really think the differences between theists and atheists online are a result of some personal differences?

IRL not any one person really stands out. More like a conglomeration. Some were manipulators, some converters, some arrogant, some political players, some self absorbed, a lot intolerant, almost all hypocrites.

Not to mention that "unpersonal" is a very Orwellian take on the word "impersonal".

Doesn't happen where I live. Even JWs keep to the tube stations, standing in a corner and meakly waving their watchtower. If you don't make contact, there is no contact. Religion isn't part of daily life or conversations in my country. As I keep saying, I don't even know if my brother is in any way religious.

I've known some theists to do some pretty shitty things, like ring the doorbell before eight on a Saturday morning, distribute anti-abortion junk mail to a high school English class as if the class and the junk were science, claim to tell his wife how to vote,  attempt to convert my kids, assume prayers in school assemblies were okay, picket abortion clinics, hand me stuff about how I'm going to hell. . .

But I don't think I've ever met a theist in the flesh who was a shitty human being all of the time.  Mostly their are nice or at least reasonably nice people with this little bugagboo that only shows up under certain circumstances. . .

I think the problem on the net is that generally we are only hearing about the bugaboo, because that's why they are on that site.  They probably talk about kittens, movies, and feeding the homeless someplace else.
