Does this person look familiar to anyone?
I find it hard to understand how someone that has their eyes opened to reality can go back and believe in the woo again.

Community is one in this case unless I miss my read. An emotional event resonates with previously embedded theology. One gets caught up in the moment?

However it happens is generally their reasons, not my concern unless they make it my concern.  Undecided

It's simply Deirdre's business. Not our's.

I would like for her to come back here and have a healthy discussion or some fun. It's not my concern that she's on a christian board or that she's religious (again).

I agree, I don't know her but if she's a nice person it is indeed a shame she's not here. When it comes to nice people the more the merrier - too many assholes in this world.

And indeed, totally her business.

Having spoken with her (if that person is her), I can say she's very nice, and do hope she comes back here. Her beliefs are her business. It's not my place to state an unsolicited psychoanalysis. To be honest, starting a thread about it is a bit rude.

I don't see how this thread hasn't been taken down via the calling out rule either. She's still a member here if I'm not mistaken.

I am familiar withh er. She's kudoed me a bit. She was good to talk to. I was never that are of her that I saw this coming. It's unfortunate, just because I take great comfort in atheism. But it's her journey, and all journeys have their own wisdom. I support whatever she does.

For the record, I was only responding to someone who twice told me to fuck myself because I offered criticism of his condescending tribalism in the form of a rhetorical question. So, it's not exactly as if there's a plurality of people in this thread who need to get their shit together. There's only the guy who yesterday proclaimed:
Quote:To us, it is a compliment  to point out an error in thinking, or a mistake of fact, to a fellow atheist.

It's a little shocking to us, then, when we do the same as we do for one another to a fundamentalist who comes here, and they react to our information with hostility or silence, pretending we did not demonstrate what we did.

It's the source of the term "intellectual honesty", being willing to recognize when our intellects can fool us, and make the necessary corrections. We are just as capable of those errors as anyone; the difference is in how we prefer to apply the recognition of such errors in revision of our beliefs the moment it becomes clear that we have swallowed something based upon fallacious reasoning or bias.

Dogma is the precise opposite of that.

If ever there was an appropriate time for one to eat their own words, this must surely be it.
