Hm, difficult. Who should be punished for what without completely undermining freedom of speech? The public can punish the movement by widthdrawing support.  The whole pegida thing might now become even more of a looney fringe movement and lose the last bit of support in the ordinary population. The guys who ran around with the mock gallow display might get into more trouble because of it, but they are already being investigated, and the investigators threatened, and that investigated, before the attack.

The actual action. Exact translation "done". Every german sentence needs this to make it work. Don't ask me about grammar. I never was any good when explaining that. I only know how to string words to form comprehensive sentences.

The good news is that the attacker didn't use a gun.  The bad news is that Reker was seriously injured, maybe to the point of death.  But since she wasn't shot we won't be swamped with 24/7 news about how evil guns are.  Even if she dies of her wounds it won't make the news here because she wasn't shot.

Fyi, She just accepted her election as the new mayor, signing it in her hospital bed. I somehow doubt that she would be doing that right now if the guy had had a gun...

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

As always, I like to look at these situations not as isolated incidents but as symptoms of much larger issues. The rise of the far-right, these killings and the rise of anti-immigration sentiments are merely the result of the EU's suicidal policies. Everyone with a minimum of knowledge knows you can perfectly achieve the same with natives as you can with immigrants, so there aren't special benefits immigrants bring to society - Moreover, someone who is at least a bit rational knows perfectly that importing immigrants with care and picking who you want (like qualifications, background, etc.) is wise and should be promoted - Importing culturally incompatible rednecks is not, and Sweden is merely seeing the consequences of importing so many immigrants, specially Muslims.
Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you
