The Tower of Babel
RE: The Tower of Babel
This story seems to relate also to another story about how this god fears his own creations.

Genesis 3:22
New American Standard Bible.
Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever "-

this verse appears as if the god/s are worried that we (humanity) have or could become like them.
Once this is realized they promptly kicked the humans out so they could not live forever.

I know this is just a myth as to why we die of old age and also tells of the shackle that binds us in our original sin but it sure sounds like a similer motive as the Babel story.

I have heard that a lot of these tales are just retelling the same few messages over and over.
Poe's Law: "Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

So the question if you believe in fairies and Bigfoot turns out to be moot after all.

One man's 'dragon' is another man's dinosaur. One man's bigfoot is another man's Neanderthal. One mans mermaid could be another manatee. Point is A rose by any other name would still smell just as sweet. Or rather look at the commonalities myth has with fact and you can connect your own dots.

For instance Titans could very easily be the start of  the Greek/roman gods. Or rather the stories of titans could be the source material for all these other gods/demi gods.

In the History section King Nebuchadnezzar wrote of it describing what was left in his day, three other historeans wrote of it, and Alexander the Great destroyed what was left and tried to rebuild it.

How's that for proof pinkster? 4 Points of non biblical history.

The history section of that article suggests that stories of the Tower of Babel are based on the Hebrew exposure to the Ziggurat of Babylon. What you have there is a Jewish story about a monument that was foreign to them, and upon which Gaud took offense because it was too tall. Just because the Jews based their story on an actual tower, doesn't make the story they told historically factual.
You sir are a douch with out equal Clap Clap

You bock at their being no proof of a tower like that even exists.. I provide 'proof' does exist and you move the goal posts. Let's try a honest conversation. How about you (and your peers who backed you. you know who you are) conceed the first part of your argument before you move on.

In any case, my point was that the flood didn't seem to work to well at eradicating evil, if Yahweh thought them building the tower was such a bad idea, and confusing their language didn't seem to do any good either in the long run. You'd think an all knowing being would be able to fix the problem the first time.

Actually it worked perfectly, as the Evil it eradicated no longer exists, yet man still does.. (Lest you see titans roaming around somewhere)

Wasn't Noah the main person god was trying to save, Yet, the first thing the man did when he got off the boat was commit the deadly sin of drunkenness. A lot of babies died in the flood. But Yahweh’s model of worthiness was an old wino.
The god who allows children to be raped out of respect for the free will choice of the rapist, but punishes gay men for engaging in mutually consensual sex couldn't possibly be responsible for an intelligently designed universe.

the story of babble is in close proxcimity to the ark story in the book of genesis, but in reality the time between those two events was massive, maybe even a few dozen generations... That what it would take to populate a city from Noah's two sons, and their wives.

Just out of morbid curiosity, what approximate dates would you give for the Noah story and the Tower of Babel story?
Here's a primer on the area history = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylonia.  See if you can reconcile any of the biblical stories to known history.

Here's an interesting tidbit: "The Kassites renamed Babylon "Kar-Duniash", and their rule lasted for 576 years, the longest dynasty in Babylonian history.

This new foreign dominion offers a striking analogy to the roughly contemporary rule of the Semitic Hyksos in ancient Egypt. Most divine attributes ascribed to the Semitic Amorite kings of Babylonia disappeared at this time; the title of God was never given to a Kassite sovereign. However, Babylon continued to be the capital of the kingdom and one of the 'holy' cities of western Asia, where the priests of Mesopotamian Religion were all-powerful, and the only place where the right to inheritance of the short lived old Babylonian empire could be conferred."

Doesn't matter.  It's still a stupid fucking story.  Why is your 'god' such a pussy?  He went from murderous fuck drowning the whole world to passive-aggressive shithead in a few generations.
