But at the same time, you'd find that your desire to watch brussel sprout eating is nonexistent and that you would rather not see that.

Meh, I once watched a home movie that at one point featured my nephew eating brussel sprouts. It didn't bother me. I still don't want to eat them myself but my nephew can have all he likes.

Isn't it strange how the same religious & political figures that rail against homosexuality don't say a damn thing about the rampant, pervading greed of our society? Jesus has quite a bit to say about greed & the rich if I remember correctly.

But you won't hear a peep about it outside of Sunday school.

I have a hard time understanding why people focus on the sexual exploits of others enough to oppose them. There seems to be a strong fixation on sexuality in religion, as if it were a main principle of the bible. Homosexuality is described as an abomination in Leviticus, along with eating catfish, rabbits, and entering a temple while menstruating. It is not mentioned by Jesus.

So a menstruating homosexual eating a rabbit and catfish sandwich in a temple would be the ultimate sinner eh.

Dotard...any thoughts on that?

Yes Dotard, I'm really curious what you think of this too. You did mention that you wanted to discuss 'natural abnormality.'

I don't know what you'd be looking for. Morality is subjective is it not? My subjective morals find homosexuality to be immoral. Lefthandedness not.

What exactly are you looking for from me?

I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Not looking for anything specific, just your thoughts.

Moral decision-making does involve, after all, a post-hoc rationalization of our automatic emotional reactions (according to some theorists). So if you feel disgust, then you attempt to find a reason for it. 'It's disgusting to me, therefore there's something wrong with it.' But it's worth thinking about what, exactly, is wrong with it, apart from the fact that you feel it's immoral. Strong emotions are notorious for distorting our perception of things.

Agreed,in practice. However, as a species we consistently rationalise our morality, especially by appealing to some external moral authority.

Although I disagree with your position,I don't have the slightest problem with it unless you try to impose it on me. As far as I can tell, that is not your intention,so no problem.

Nor,in my opinion are you under any obligation to explain or justify your position, unless of course you want others to 'understand' or agree with you. Why bother?

Which is what I had attempted to do here previously but either I was not being taken seriously and was percieved as trolling or I was just accused of 'HOMOPHOBIA', which I had also started a thread about homophobia not being an accurate descriptor, but all that was about as successful as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.

Maybe. However I like to believe my moral compass or 'authority' is internal.

Not looking for agreement for my position. Understanding, maybe.
