"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

From January 4th through the 12th I'll be in southeastern Missouri, on the Tennessee border. I'm 2 hrs north of Memphis on I-55. If you're in the area, c'mon by! If not, you definitely gotta let me know when you visit your sis. Dr. Fuzzy is in the KCMO area too... we can have a miniature AF gathering!
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Yep. I'm in KC. Rocket is heading this direction. (Glad you're not in this area tomorrow, Rocket, the weather says sleet and ice in the morning - yikes!)
Would love to have a mini gathering. There is another member in the area too - - - I'll have to do a search back through my threads to find out who.

Good times?
What makes you think you've picked the correct god to worship out of the thousands out there?
Can billions of Muslims and Buddhists be wrong?
You know that all the gods can't be the one true god, but they can all be false gods.
You didn't have a choice in which god you believe in.
That decision was made by by your ethnicity and geography.
We're here because we won't be told which god to believe in as you have.
Does that make us brave or stupid? Your wrong
Allah- GOD
Brahmin-GOD
GOD- GOD
There is ultimately only One Creator GOD it is easily distinguishable and identifiable in Islam and Buddhism and Christianity and other faiths as the same One Creator GOD.

I am heading to USA in mid 2016 - undecided where to settle down, but the Southern states do look attractive.

Hello, welcome
Atheism is the lack of belief on a single issue. Any particular atheist will hold beliefs, which could be absolutely anything except God-existent beliefs. Atheism does not logically lead to anything else.
Atheism is an incredibly misunderstood position, with many people bolting on their own preconceptions to a very simple concept. I go into much more detail on my website here, if you'd like to take a look.
I agree with you that the world is coming to an end. Cosmically speaking, the earth and all life on it will be dead and gone in the blink of an eye.

Welcome. So you do not believe in anything? What about air?
