Not a fan of Star Wars. Are they really good, or just a part of the culture?

Elaborate, I'm curious!
Keep in mind here that I'm not a super Bond fan and I've only seen the movie once before Thanksgiving back in November so my memory of it is fuzzy:
I thought it was an hour too long, the story was hard to follow, it felt formulaic (open with awesome action scene, now start contrived plot, now it's time for gratuitous scene of Bond making out with a hot chick, proceed to jet-set around the world, now have Bond and the female tag-along have sex because it's expected, end movie with explosion), I thought the characters were boring, even Bond felt boring, the pacing was weird, and I generally thought it was an unejoyable movie.
I left the theater wondering why I had just spent $10 on a ticket to see a really bad movie I wouldn't have even watched when it came went to Netflix. (I saw it with friends, which was why I saw it at all.)

1985's Clue, with Tim Curry and Christopher Lloyd.

The Chief: Good evening. Have you ever given any thought to the kingdom of heaven?
Mrs. Peacock: What?
The Chief: Repent! The kingdom of heaven
is at hand!
Miss Scarlet: You ain't just whistlin' Dixie.
The Chief: Armageddon is almost upon us.
Professor Plum: I got news for you - it's already here.
Mrs. Peacock: Go away!
The Chief: But your souls are in danger!
Mrs. Peacock: Our
lives our in danger, you beatnik!

Rewatched Grand Budapest Hotel.
Just love the 'look' of the whole film. Rich plotting, humor, ethereal sentiments. All around great movie.
