Certainly not! Big Grin

A very good friend of mine is the only offspring of one of Bowie's best friends (some of you could probably narrow it down if you were so inclined). He's in a European country consulting on a film about their lives right now. He found out about his death within an hour, and he didn't even know how bad his cancer had gotten. My friend gave the opening speech at the new record release party and everything. As much as some of us are mourning, I can't imagine what it must be like for those close to him... he was such a brilliant man.

Clueless Morgan - Are you fucking kidding me?

I was just giving examples as asked, they are JUST examples, yes I know they are out of context, there isn't any other reason. To each their own opinion, but I can't have mine? This is my first experience on an atheist forum, just seems a bit odd view point on life to me is all I was trying to express. You know the theist all have this the world is coming to an end and we're all going to hell, fatalism. I just figured atheist would have a more upbeat view point without all that baggage. That and my mom calling me up wanting to kill herself but just can't cause God will throw her in the fire. I don't ever stereotype people as in all of them do kind of myopic stance. I've met 10's of thousands of people from Jews to fags doesn't bother me at all.

He was ugly anyway. Kitan, sometimes you are just an ugly human being. 69 is a fucking awesome age to die. He lived longer than I'd wanna live. It's the exact number of years I want to live, Well yeah, like I said already earlier 69 is a fucking awesome age to die. I just wanna die in my late 30's or so. I'd want to die at that age too Yeah... if I did the same I'd only have about 10 years left (I'm 27) and yet my young years were fucking shit and I'm happier now than ever. What difference does it make if someone is alive or not? What should hold someone out from committing suicide if there is no meaning or purpose to this pathetic of an excuse of time on this shithole of a planet?.. To fuck and die.
Kind of dark for a Pony :o Such hostility. In both of your posts. Quote: "I hate that word". Quote: " I hate this attitude". Quote: " I do hate celebrities like musicians and sports stars and politicians saying "you can do it"". Quote: I really don't give one fuck what your definition of "success is".". All we do is eat sleep complain have fun and piss each other off and now and then have wars over the dumbest things. But I've often wondered - why live? To survive? Why survive? To enjoy the pleasures of life? Are they really worth the hardships though? After all, when you die, you just doesn't exist anymore, so why even bother? All these years of hardships after hardships only to just die one day.
The reward is significantly lower than the effort you put in though, won't you say?

Why isn't this jumped on,  'you just doesn't exist anymore'?   One little observational stereotype and the defensiveness comes out.  I must have run across a lot of it as I was looking around, sounds a bit negative to me, no?  I would have thought this group would be more unbiased as most others and have a great outlook on life is all.

I think you need to take Remedial English. A couple of those comments are in line with what you wrote, most aren't, and it's still a dirtbag move on your part.

Sure you can. But when it's bullshit, don't complain that that is pointed out. Your opinion is not privileged, and in this case, that is doubly true because it relies on selective quotes and (probably deliberate) misinterpretation.

I'm not going to respond to your reply, in order to avoid shitting up this thread by paying attention to your whining. You can have the last word. Make it a good one.

Over to you.

I almost missed this. Wanted to make sure this idiot's views don't get lost in his shitcloud of blather.

This is so cool, IMO...

David Bowie to be honoured with a lightning-bolt-shaped constellation named after him,
inspired by the cover of Aladdin Sane:

Please tell me that article is a parody.

Quote:“Referring to his various albums, we chose seven stars—Sigma Librae, Spica, Alpha Virginis, Zeta Centauri, SAA 204 132, and the Beta Sigma Octantis Trianguli Australis—in the vicinity of Mars.

Notice those binomial names - Sigma Librae, Alpha Virginis etc? They're not merely the name of the stars, but the address, if you like, of the constellation of which they are already a part. Even when referred to by their 'proper' (usually Arabic) name, they still belong to established constellations; Spica, for example, is Alpha Virginis. Appropriating stars to make a new constellation is no different to making a new country by taking bits of already established ones.

Second, there is no such thing as a constellation "in the vicinity of Mars" or any other planet.

Third, the only organisation with the power to do any of this is the International Astronomical Union. You can't do it just by registering it on the internet.

In short - yes, it would be a lovely tribute. Just don't swallow the snakeoil about it.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Oh.....that's disappointing.  It thought that would be really cool.  :/
