One possible answer is that the detectives wanted this to happen, so that after the attack has already occurred, there's more reason for people to hate the Muslims. The fact that most of the protests by muslims at the slightest little 'insult' is another thing that is taken into consideration. They are not doing their cause any favours and are just making themselves out to be spoilt children with not a skerrick of wit between all of them.
