Unless people start paying one -hell- of alot more for manure....no one is going to keep livestock if they can't use the meat. You're basically just asking them to watch your dog for pennies, at that point.
If you only need the animals for manure, I'm sure we'll figure something out as a society to stop relying on animals for meat when there's perfectly good meat being grown artificially. But we're not there yet and we're merely talking hypothetically right now.
I'm not putting other animals before human lives. And you would argue relying on oil as the only other option in this case would hurt humans in the long run. So if that's true, I'm changing my stance on this. It's as simple as that. I'm not going to irrationally care for other species at the expense of my own.

There's perfectly good meat being grown already? I'm not sure what you think there is to figure out. Oil doesn't just cost human life...it's had a far greater cost in lives other than our own. For us, it's been a boon...but we're moving past that, I hope.

Well, aren't you open minded and delightful.
There's not as yet. But there might be in the near future.

I believe the phrase is "white and delightsome".
But you see, it's not the meat that has a problem...it's you. We can and do produce healthy meat in an ethical and sustainable manner. Animals need not be sick, and they need not suffer. You're not going to eat it regardless of how it's produced, and you don't have to. Have a care for people other than yourself amigo, accept compromise when it is the only means to further your goals, lol.

Except I already eat meat. I never said I didn't.
I do care for other people, wtf are you talking about. I think you're arguing for classic meat because you're somehow invested in keeping the status quo on this. So you're unreliable and biased.

I'm sorry, I guess assumptions make an ass out of me. I retract my statements -in their entirety-. You'll no longer need feel guilty about eating meat, then? I think you have some misconceptions about the status quo if you think I'm a part of it. Non profit CSA's have been my thing......I'm finding it difficult to actually -make- money, lol.

I never did feel guilty about it per se. I just thought that if we could avoid it why make animals suffer needlessly. It would seem we can't avoid it, if I'm to trust your take on it.

Even if we -can't- avoid it why make animals suffer needlessly? The answer is we shouldn't, and we don't have to. If ethics and empathy fail you can appeal to the profitability of the operation. Happier, healthier livestock generate greater profit.

Not sure whose profit you're talking about but I'm more concerned with society as a whole than with any individual's particular interests.
