Trouble is, most racists are home-schooled, DvF. Never going to beat that.

HOW are you going to prevent the beliefs from being taught? Throw racists in prison?

Does someone being a bigot mean they should be imprisoned? Because they have an irrational hate of another group? It's not only authoritarian to dictate who can say what and how to punish people who say things we don't agree with, it's also an extremely slippery slope.

Who are you to decide that bigots shouldn't have as much freedom as you? Where did you get these rights to decide from?

Not allowing them the privilege of adopting is a great start. The state can't be seen as encouraging that kind of thing you know.

There are no rights besides legal rights and we're talking hypothetically here.

I never suggested imprisoning racists. I suggest that if there is a peaceful way to prevent racist beliefs getting spread around that would be better because less racist beliefs is better.

I think that voluntary rehabilitation would be good for racists, maybe it's possible for some of them to learn how bigoted their racist beliefs are.

Furthermore, there's no need to try and stop racist beliefs being taught altogether if that's impossible by any reasonable non-authoritarian means. Because it still may be possible to minimize such racist beliefs being spread: Minimization is still perhaps possible by reasonable means. No one has to give up simply because they can't remove it completely, when you can't do that, try minimization.

He means they learn to be racist at home.

So how wouldn't preventing racist adoption sort that out?

Pretty sure he was referring to natural parents.

Oh right, I thought we were discussing adoption. I'm really confused now.

On what grounds? That the child may develop an irrational hate of another group?

And if that is your reason should we also disallow Feminists from adopting? How about Christians who have an irrational hate of atheists? Atheists who have an irrational hate of the religious? Blacks who still harbour racial prejudice that would teach their children the white people are out to get them? What about vegans who will raise their children to think people who eat meat are evil?
