Whew, hope he recovers quickly!
The fool hath said in his heart, There is a God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

I don't agree with his pushing of atheism on people, but I hope he recovers. I don't wish harm on anyone.

When has he pushed atheism on anyone?
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

RE: Richard Dawkins suffers stroke.
I've been following his work for sometime time and he has never directly pushed Atheism on anyone. He makes people think and question there own world views with facts and evidence. A lot of people think that making a person question there own believes is pushing it on them, which is so far from pushing his own opinions, which as evidence backing them. Those of Religious or spiritual POV have little evidence backing there fragile arguments, that there only option is attack his views to defend there own. The people that hold rally's at abortion clinics and apply massive pressure to join there school of though violence is pushing a believe on some one. When is the last time you read about an Atheist resorting to such means to get there point across. All we need a power point presentation to convey our argument. The problem is that groups like (F.A.G First assembly of god) are allowed to have members of it's group on government seats. The neutral party system is the best way for government whether there county, city, state, or federal. If the issue of teaching just evolution in a public school comes up for debate. A neutral board should come up with a rational solution of teach both and let the students develop there own opinions. Instead of favoring one over the other, which is the cause of all these arguments. Both sides get what they want in a sense. There views are both put on display and the students get a lesson in developing there own views. Everyone wins then! I hope is all is well Richard and you make a full recovery.

Wonder if he'll recant his atheism in the end?

Not sure I really get it.  You saying he's pushing his atheism on people because he wrote books?  Basically, because he's not in the closet with it?

You don't become known publicly as influential without being a voice of authority. The fact that many recognize him as being influential, means he must influence someone. He can be considered the high priest of the anti-God establishment. Of course I mean the previous sentence as semi sarcastic, but seriously he is someone that atheists push as a voice that speaks for them.
