And this is why we publish and make our work relevant to the scientific literature. While one scientist may not live that long, their work becomes part of the literature and outlasts them.
(March 8, 2016 at 5:00 am)Harris Wrote: However, our beings encompass a huge amount of data stored in our conscience
Conscience? Or consciousness?
If the former then no. If the latter then what does statement this even mean? Consciousness is an emergent phenomenon and requires a working brain, body and environment which an agent can be conscious of.

A gift of evolution which has instilled a particular for of pack instinct in us as a species. Different species have different instincts.

Use logic to infer from evidence to create hypotheses that can then be tested experimentally. Or to test whether a hypothesis or argument is consistent.

This is why we have the scientific method. Nothing works better.
(March 8, 2016 at 5:00 am)Harris Wrote: If you are honest in searching the truth, then you should keep yourself refrain from these hurdles and I assure you that you will reach the ultimate truth within a very short time.
How do you know that there is an ultimate truth?
What exactly is an ultimate truth?
What evidence is there to suggest that there is an ultimate truth?
My God has created everything (including you and me)
My God sustain everything (including you and me) for a period He wish
My God is replacing everything (old or new) with the other things
My God will one day replace you and me with other people
Can your god (science) create a real mosquito?
Can your god (science) stop your aging process at all?
Can your god (science) protect you from dying?
In fact, my God has created your god (science). If he will take away only predictability from the universe your god (science) would collapse instantly.
It is time to get mature. Nature is not only a toy for fun.

No, this distinction is wrong. First of all, "detectable due [to] their physical properties" is a meaningless or trivial phrase which applies to anything or nothing depending on how you interpret it. There is no such fundamental distinction between fermions and bosons concerning how they are detected, or at least it goes not in the direction you claim. How do you detect a fermion? If anything, fermions are detected even *more* indirectly than bosons because they do not interact directly with other fermions in the Standard model.
Do you agree, @ little_monkey?

But if you think science is our god, you are really confused about what gods are. That might explain a lot, actually.

Your god does not exist. The very concept is logically inconsistent and contravenes everything that we have objectively observed.

Science is a method for learning about the real world and for collecting, disseminating and building upon that knowledge to increase understanding. It is not a god.

Until then, then. Pity it's unfalsifiable, really. Though I suppose a citation's out of the question?

Excellent advice. I look forward to seeing you take it.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

That response I have specially structured for Mathilda. Not for you or anyone else.

If you actually believe that your response is based on reality then why can't other people comment on it?
Or do you just see debates as arguments with words which don't really mean anything?
