EU: Should the UK Leave or Stay?

Well we have 50 states that routinely conduct a peaceful revolt of the commander in chief of our military every 4 years. We reaffirm or repace our sub-state members every 2 years with no armed revolution or districts threatening to revolt and leave the union or their state. In those same periods depending on the state we reaffirm or instate a new Representative for our entire state.

I suppose the concept maybe alien to you. But I'm pretty sure you adopted something similar after we did, only on a much smaller scale seeing as how your nation is very small and thus far easier to govern. But I'm assured that is of no consequence since you have an opinion!

I've heard these are very important. Serious you take me, yet I am not. Perhaps your a little to entrenched in your opinion. Perhaps missionary work is all your doing. If you wanna have a negotiation you need to at least be open to what the other side is trying to sell your and vise versa. Are you?

G bump: Thank you Yes, I don't subscribe to the whole "wasted vote" thing, although I can understand the pragmatism. I don't consider it wasted, if it raises the profile of particular issues. If smaller parties are ignored, the issues can also safely be ignored by the big parties.

In NY we have the (http://workingfamilies.org/states/new-york/) they do so much to push candidates in the democratic party to the left. They've even primaried a few. However they haven't gone tea party crazy and shut down their efforts when their Canaanite didn't win. 

To me this is the "tip" of the iceberg of what needs to move the needle of american politics.

The fund-raising, the CU decision and the District scribbles all need to be address before any non- "establishment" can be elected. And you don't solve those by electing idealists and by not voting or not voting in midterms.


Nothing will change unless we lay the ground work. I think allot of folks ask for the Maple sap before planting the acorn.

I think voting to leave the EU is done for nationalistic reasons and other invalid reasons. We're better off in Europe and Europe is greater than Britain.

Obama may be in America but he is entitled to express his opinions -- I really like Obama I think he's patently the best president the U.S of A have had in a long long while.

The mere fact of Tony Blair being that opposed to him, speaks volumes in his favor. But it's wait and see if he's able to convince people what social democracy should stand for or if they believe in the likes of UKIP being some kind of labor party.

I can definitely recommend it. You either find somewhere better to live or you appreciate what was good about the place you left. In practise it's a mixture of the two. I moved to Germany for three years and I didn't intend coming back. I moved back to Scotland a 1 1/2 year contract but I intend to move back to Germany. But I'm also now prepared to move anywhere in Europe.

The younger generation are utterly screwed in the UK. Not that I count myself as that any more at the age of 41 but I was late and missed jumping on the goodies wagon before the ladder was pulled up.

The problem is always learning the language well enough that you can get yourself some stability. I was working in an English speaking work environment which meant that I had little exposure to the language and few chances to practice. It takes a long time to properly learn a language. It also means that I had to look for work in other English speaking work environments which meant that even though there was a shortage of software engineers in Germany, I was competing with a massive amount of other software engineers who couldn't speak German.

Another problem I found that with engineering at least, Germany is quite a sexist culture compared to the UK and this also affected my ability to find work.

I can say with some confidence that I probably won't be coming back, permanently anyway. If for any reason I do come back, I'll be sure to settle in or around London, since that's just about the only place in The UK I'd actually enjoy living in. Might sound crazy for a millennial to say this, but it's not even so much about the money or the opportunties for me. I just don't feel at home in The UK and want to explore places that are more my aesthetic, climate, culture, the lot.

I don't feel that language would be much of a barrier for me personally, since I'm enthusiastic enough about learning languages that I'd really go to every effort to get fluent as fast as I can.
