So I guess when atheists form a church, gather together every Sunday and sing; their being insecure about their atheism also right?

Please demonstrate that the behavior you describe is part of being an atheist rather than a way to mock the very idea of religious services.

Oh boy.

It seems to be a common misconception that someone cannot withdraw from a discussion without it automatically being a victory for the other person. Hardly.

This also seems to lead to the "carry on arguing relentlessly until the other person gets fed up and then declare victory" tactic. The purpose of honest debate is supposed to be to exchange ideas, possibly with a view to giving the other person some things to consider. It's not to spout off constantly until the other person gets tired of you. If that's what you consider to be a victory, then clearly "winning the argument" is more important to you than actually being right, or properly communicating good ideas.

On many occasions, after an atheist has been beaten soundly on facts, they turn tail and run. Kinda like how i was making the point that animals didn't have a moral code, which Abaris took issue with, and referenced Frans de Waal as evidence of animal morality, when in reality De Waal was saying the exact same thing I was.

But surprise, Abaris never admitted he was wrong, he just left the conversation... that's how it usually goes.

And, newsflash, the reason why I typically stop talking to theists in mid-conversation is that their insufferable nature (like yours, you cock monger) makes me exceedingly angry because they typically wallow in their own idiocy with a trollish delight, and I'd rather remove myself from that kind of bullshit for a time than to engage in it.

Frankly, I have better things to do with my time than to indulge in theistic bullshit.  Once it starts, I'm gone.  I engage at my pleasure, not anyone else's.  And I care not about 'victory' in a fucking online argument with people I will never meet.  I only care about my own happiness and the happiness of those I care for.  If interactions on here don't make me happy, I'm under no obligation to continue.

The Sunday Assembly was started by Sanderson Jones and Pippa Evans, two comedians who were on the way to a gig in Bath when they discovered they both wanted to do something that was like church but totally secular and inclusive of all—no matter what they believed.

The first ever Sunday Assembly meeting took place on January 6th 2013 at The Nave in Islington. Almost 200 people turned up at the first meeting, 300 at the second and soon people all over the world asked to start one.

Now there are over 70 Sunday Assembly chapters in 8 different countries where people sing songs, hear inspiring talks, and create community together.

Why do we exist? Life is short, it is brilliant, it is sometimes tough, we build communities that help everyone live life as fully as possible.

And why are the Sunday Assemblies surprising, or something worth mocking?  Most American atheists were raised going to a church service every Sunday morning, it got ingrained as an integral part of life.  So, gee, when the "no god" light bulb goes off in their heads, that's all well and good, but they're missing community.
   Some atheists find other ways to create that community.

The difference is, it's not a requirement.  No atheist believes that they'll go to hell if they skip an assembly.  There is nothing to praise and worship. There are no requirements for what goes on in an assembly.  Heck, I have heard that many of them are like TED talks, with coffee and donuts. Sounds fun.
